[Mage 2: The Dethroned Queen] The Kralie Pack: Cavalier, ND

Out of Character (OOC):

Venue: Mage: The Awakening 2nd Edition
Chronicle Storyteller: Jerad Sayler

              The Kralie Pack: Cavalier, ND
from Werewolf: The Forsaken

The family of Alex Kralie, victim of the Slenderman Entity

  • The pack comes from a long bloodline of werewolves; the rage runs strong in the family. Specifically, the line is a split off from the greater packs that imprisoned the "thin man" in his butte.
  • Alex’s family spent most of his life awaiting a First Change in him that never came to pass – and in time their intense and unwelcome scrutiny faded into disappointment and pity.
  • Culture is an even mixture of Mandan tradition and fringe traditionalist Catholic teachings; they’re strict about adherence. Most members speak fluent Latin.
  • The family seems fond of dogs, 3-4 larger breeds and mutts.
  • Very hierarchical when it comes to pack roles, older members have more authority and the younger members are expected to abide by their judgment without question.

Pack totem:
Spirit of the Tongue River. It’s been bound for a long time and grown rebellious over the years. The spirit serves, but it serves resentfully and looks for ways around the binding. So far, it hasn’t succeeded.

Father (deceased): Malcom Kralie
Alex’s father was a Hunter. He was tolerated by the rest of the pack, respected perhaps but never well liked; Alex’s grandfather had a particular enmity for him. The story of his parents’ courtship would be . . . interesting, one would imagine, and possibly violent – though however it came to be, the two were very close. No matter to Alex, as he never learned about any of it. One more secret they were keeping from him. Died mysteriously while out “hunting” with Alex’s sister. He never saw a body or an explanation.  He never used silver, the bane of the Uratha, against them and for that he has a modicum of respect.  Though it did put him at a great disadvantage when hunting the Forsaken, he usually didn’t bother despite his reputation but did have a fair number of tricks of his sleeve.

Members:

Alex’s Mother: Bethany “Ice Wind” Kralie
(English scout name)
Auspice: Irraka
Virtue: Prudence. Crafty, always formulating a plan.
Vice: Pride. Can be calculating to the point of callousness.

Description:
Mid-forties. Mix of native and white with black hair and eyes. Tall, long black hair and angular features. Always seems to be sizing you up, evaluating weakness. Best scout in the pack. Extremely loyal to her father Elijah; her one point of divergence from his will was her marriage to Malcom Kralie.

Alex’s Sister: Julia “Ištu” Kralie
(Means Opposite, part of moon meaning opposite sun)
Auspice: Irraka
Virtue: Temperance. Sees no value in zealotry; all things must balance.
Vice: Sloth. Lacks the drive to act on her convictions.

Description:
Mix of native and white with black hair and eyes. Mid-twenties. Alex’s older sister. Spitting image of her mother. She was close to Malcom when he was alive. Always believed that they should’ve done more to clue Alex in to the threats of the supernatural. She is growing disillusioned with her family, both because of their treatment of Alex and their strict adherence to what she considers hidebound dogma. But she rebels in quiet ways. Spends a lot of time away from the pack, scouting.

Alex’s Grandfather: Elijah “Wah-yah” Blackwell
(Means Wolf)
Virtue: Fortitude. Difficult to sway from his course.
Vice: Pride. He indulges this frequently. Rigid and unforgiving.
Auspice: Rahu

Description:
Patriarch and alpha. Very Native American.  Man in his early sixties; still in excellent physical shape for his age, has a lean muscle to him. An imposing figure; deeply lined face and angry eyes. A hard an authoritarian sort. Not fond of outsiders. Used to barking out orders and having them heeded. Has a soft spot for his daughter, though he was always hard on her children.

Alex’s Uncle: Joshua “Hanhepi wi” Blackwell
(the Storyteller)
Auspice: Cahalith
Virtue: Charity. Gives his time and creative vision to the pack.
Vice: Wrath. Doesn’t check his temper, easily irritated by set-backs or dissent.

Description:
Half-White half-Lakota and Mandan. Late forties. Bethany’s half-brother. A stocky man with a worn face and a mean, hard-edged smile. Story-teller and keeper of legends. A serious, assertive personality; likes to throw his weight around, though he - like Bethany - is easily reined in by Elijah; he seems almost afraid of the old man. Considers his son disappointing, treats him with a casual disdain.

Lore: Has the United Tribes legend of the imprisonment of the Thin Man

Alex’s Cousin: Christopher “Hushilu” Blackwell
(Young reckless, first tongue for ‘Spirit-talker’)
Auspice: Ithaeur
Virtue: Prudence. Cautious by nature.
Vice: Envy. For his more assertive packmates.

Description:
Joshua’s son. A small young man (early twenties) with nervous mannerisms; seems to twitch at even small sounds. Frequently off of balance when dealing with people. He is better with spirits, though they frighten him too. A person who seems out of step with the material world in general. Projects the least threat out of any of the pack members and has the least authority, but his competence with spirits should not be underestimated.

Family friend: Kennedy “Red beard” McLevin
Auspice: Elodoth
Virtue: Hope. Likes throwing people just enough of a line for them to grasp hold of it themselves.
Vice: Lust. For life, and the rush of adrenaline.

Description:
Irish Family friend, close with Bethany and Joshua specifically. Tall, gawky man, red haired. Took pity on Alex occasionally and indulged his questioning with tiny hints, though they were obtuse enough where they mostly just frustrated him. An eccentric, frequently seems high off of life and perhaps a little crazy (personally, he thinks of this as a good thing). His personality is changeable and subject to shifts over time, but he always maintains a certain underhanded cunning. Probably the least cowed by Elijah’s authority, but he knows when to keep his mouth shut; Elijah isn’t particularly fond of him.
